Say what you mean and mean what you say
Friend: “I guess you can start looking for something new.”
Me: “But I thought you said I should give it time, I haven’t given myself a chance to adjust yet!”
Friend: “I was just being nice.”

Sometimes, when you leave one thing and move on to another, you need a thrid thing to hang in the middle “dead zone.” IOW, a job that isn’t where you’re going to spend the next chunk of your life, but lets you get out of the old job and move on before having to jump right into the next long-term job. Maybe that’s all this current job is. That doesn’t mean you have to be in a hurry, but it’s important to remember you don’t owe it to anyone to stay here longer than you need. This is a good time to think about what you really want to be doing.
Or, maybe it’s a good time to find a rich man to marry so you don’t have to get a next job.

Kevin, I’m all for finding a rich man to marry, but I have no idea where to look!
